Wrk It is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means it runs like a native app on your device without going through an app store. When you install it to your home screen, it opens in a full-screen experience without browser chrome, loads faster on repeat visits, works offline for core features, and — critically on iPhone — enables push notifications. The install takes under a minute on any platform.

Why install to your home screen

Installing Wrk It gives you several benefits over using it in a browser tab:
  • Offline access — the app loads even when you don’t have a connection, so you can log habits without waiting for a network.
  • Full-screen experience — no address bar or browser tabs; the app feels native.
  • Faster loading — assets are cached locally after the first visit.
  • Push notifications — receive habit reminders directly on your device.
  • Home screen shortcut — launch Wrk It directly from your home screen or app drawer, just like any other installed app.
On iPhone and iPad, push notifications for web apps only work when Wrk It is installed to your home screen. You will not receive habit reminders from a regular Safari tab, even if you grant notification permission. Install the app to your home screen to enable push notifications on iOS.

How to install

The easiest way to install on Android is to use the Install banner that Wrk It displays automatically after you’ve used the app for a short time.
1

Wait for the install banner

After using Wrk It, an Install banner appears at the center of the screen. Tap Install App to install directly.
2

Or install from the browser menu

If the banner has been dismissed, open Chrome’s menu (three-dot icon in the top right corner) and tap Add to Home Screen.
3

Confirm the install

Tap Add in the prompt that appears. Wrk It is added to your home screen and app drawer.

The install banner

Wrk It displays an install banner automatically once you’ve signed in and completed onboarding. The banner appears as a modal in the center of the screen with platform-specific instructions. If you dismiss it by tapping Not now, it won’t show again immediately, but you can still install the app manually using the steps above for your platform.
